New York City Air Filtration Experts Camfil New York Air Filtration Team Respond to Air Quality Advisory for New Yorkers
The recent air quality advisory in NYC highlights an urgent need for robust air filtration systems. Camfil responds with expertise and advanced solutions to this growing public health concern.
New York City, NY - On June 7, 2023, the air quality in New York City was rated as one of the worst in the world, second only to Delhi. This deterioration was primarily due to smoke from Canadian wildfires traveling on wind currents. The City of New York issued an advisory warning all citizens, particularly those with respiratory conditions, to limit their outdoor activities to reduce exposure to high levels of air pollutants.
The Air Quality Index (AQI), which usually averages around 50 for New York, surged into the "unhealthy" range, with scores in some areas surpassing 200. This indicates a substantial increase in particulate matter and gaseous pollutants such as ozone, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and water vapor, all common in wildfire smoke
"The impact of wildfires is felt far beyond the immediate vicinity of the fires. Smoke can travel hundreds or even thousands of miles, affecting air quality across continents," warns a representative from Camfil. "This underscores the importance of maintaining good air quality indoors, particularly during wildfire season.”
Camfil advises the public to maintain adequate indoor filtration, especially during periods of poor ambient air quality. Most HVAC systems are not equipped to handle the extreme levels of pollution associated with wildfire smoke. Camfil's City M air purifier, with its HEPA and activated carbon filtration, targets particulate matter and gaseous pollutants for cleaner air, providing an effective solution in combating indoor air pollution.
"For more than half a century, Camfil has been helping people breathe cleaner air," states the company representative. "We provide commercial and industrial systems for air filtration and air pollution control that improve worker and equipment productivity, minimize energy use, and benefit human health and the environment. We believe the best solutions for our customers are also the best solutions for our planet."
